Gwinnett County Fire and Emergency Services (GCFES) is the largest fire protection district in Georgia, covering an area of 437 square miles and 15 municipalities. The department's 30 stations are staffed by 850 professional firefighters. Each year, these firefighters respond to approximately 65,000 calls for service.
GCFES offers fire and medical services as well as specialty units including swift water rescue, Hazmat, arson investigation, community education and the technical rescue team. The department also has an award-winning honor guard.
Currently, GCFES has 30 engine companies, nine ladder trucks and 23 advanced life support units in service. Eighteen firefighters, an engine and a rescue unit are assigned to Station 16.
