The Griffin Public Works Department consists of a number of divisions. The cemetery division provides opening and closing, cemetery lots, perpetual care, mausoleum and cremation services. The city park division consists of nearly 200 acres and supervises and maintains the landscaping and facilities of the park to ensure that all visitors can enjoy a clean and safe park. The City of Griffin Municipal Golf Course opened to public play in 1932. Rolling fairways and manicured greens highlight this 18-hole, par 72 course. The Sign Shop constructs and maintains all city signs and paints all city streets while the streets division manages, maintains and repairs approximately 165 miles of city streets and rights-of-way. Storm water is responsible for drainage maintenance, construction and maintenance of the geographic information system. The water and wastewater department supplies drinking water to the residents and treats residential, commercial and industrial wastewater.
