Founded in 1958, the Georgia Federal Credit Union is an insured, nonprofit financial cooperative that serves more than 82,000 member owners. Its financial products include home equity loans, fixed- and adjustable-rate mortgages, savings and checking accounts, and VISA credit and check cards. The cooperative works in partnership with the College of Family & Consumer Sciences, which provides the Voluntary Income Tax Assistance program that offers free income tax return preparation for low- and moderate-income individuals. Its funds are insured by the National Credit Union Share Insurance Fund. The Georgia Federal Credit Union provides the UltimateAdvisor legal insurance plan, which offers financial solutions. It also assists in the purchasing of new and pre-owned cars. The cooperative sponsors various community organizations, including the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation, American Heart Association and American Red Cross. It additionally provides online bill and loan payment options.
