Georgia Rehabilitation Institute, Inc. (GRI) is a non-profit organization based in Augusta, GA, that has been providing medical rehabilitation services through Walton Rehabilitation Hospital since its establishment in 1986. Recognizing the challenges faced by individuals with disabilities in achieving independence, GRI has been dedicated to addressing the gaps in quality of life by offering accessible housing, transportation, and employment opportunities. Through partnerships with other non-profits and local government agencies, GRI aims to ensure that individuals with disabilities in the Augusta area have equal access to resources and support for a fulfilling life.
As part of its mission, GRI has played a pivotal role in the development of accessible supported housing, such as Walton West and Harrison Heights, for individuals with traumatic brain injuries. Additionally, GRI has collaborated with the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) to fund the construction of 15 accessible residential settings across Richmond, Columbia, McDuffie, and Aiken counties. Committed to enhancing the quality of life for people with disabilities, GRI has also facilitated the establishment of Walton Options for Independent Living, a federally funded Center for Independent Living, and the Walton Foundation for Independence, which offers adaptive sports, camps, and leisure programs to promote inclusivity and empowerment.
