As a part of the Georgia Department of Corrections, Jimmy Autry State Prison is a correctional institution that acts as a confinement facility for adult males who are following court-ordered sentence terms for various offenses and behaviors. It medium-security institution that include more than 175-bed mental health and an over 190-bed pre-transitional units. The institution s housing system includes nearly 80 double-bunked cells, several individual dormitories, and approximately 85 double-bunked segregation living and more than 45 single-bunked isolation living units. It offers vocational education and training opportunities though a shoe manufacturing plant located within the institution campus. Jimmy Autry State Prison is operational since 1992 and has a total inmate capacity of up to 1,500 individuals.
