Fire Station No. 5 is one of three dozen free-standing buildings in the city of Atlanta dedicated to fire safety and rescue. According to Captain Michael Brannan, the 20-year-old station handles advanced life-support calls in additional to regular fire calls.
The station is one of 36 serving the city. According to the City of Atlanta Fire Department website, the citywide agency handles an average 125 incidents per day--including fires, rescue, hazardous waste removal, medical services and Homeland Security responses.
