The Board of Tax Assessors is responsible for determining what real and personal property is subject to taxation in Forsyth County. Its responsibilities start once a sale is finalized. The deed is recorded with the Clerk of Superior Court's Office at the Forsyth County Courthouse in Cumming, Georgia. The Tax Assessor's office then assigns a value to the property. By May of the following year, an assessment notice is mailed to each individual property. The property owner then has a 45-day period to appeal the assigned value.
The office also handles the administration of the various types of homestead and property tax exemptions.
