Established in 1906, the Boys & Girls Clubs of America is an organization with more than 4,000 club locations throughout the United States, Puerto Rico and the Virgin Islands. The organization also maintains locations at U.S. military bases worldwide. The Boys & Girls Clubs of America administers a range of nationally recognized programs that address the areas of youth education, environment, health, arts, career, and crime, alcohol, drug abuse and pregnancy prevention. Its Keystone Clubs offer leadership development opportunities to youths between the ages of 14 and 18. Boys & Girls Clubs of America coordinates the National Youth of Year Program, which is sponsored by the Reader's Digest Foundation and is designed to promote and recognize academic performance and services to the club, community and family.
