Blalock Barber Shop probably hasn't changed much since it opened its doors in 1973. The sinks have been updated, but the barber chairs date to 1960 when Richard Blalock, the shop's owner, first started cutting hair. Blalock's 50-plus years of experience, coupled with his quiet demeanor, keep customers coming back. Most of those customers are adult men. Judging by the huge quantities of Bazooka bubble gum and lollipops Blalock hands out, the shop caters to young children, too. Don't expect this business to close anytime soon. Blalock owns the building and he says he'll never retire.
