Founded in 1873, the Atlanta Humane Society is the oldest nonprofit animal welfare organization in Atlanta. The Atlanta Humane Society works to address pet overpopulation, help abused animals and encourage pet adoption.
The shelter is open seven days a week for adoptions and does not euthanize for time or space. The organization offers many assistance programs and services, including spaying and neutering, dog training, educational programs, pet boutique, grief counseling, animal admission and pet-facilitated therapy.
The Atlanta Humane Society operates the Howell Mill Road Animal Wellness Clinic at 981 Howell Mill Rd. Wellness services are open Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday, from 8am to 5pm. Since the Atlanta Humane Society is funded through donations, volunteers are always need to assist operations.
