Founded in 1876, the Mount de Sales Academy is an independent, Catholic, coeducational college-preparatory school. It provides academic classes to more than 650 students in grades 6 through 12. The school conducts classes in chemistry, philosophy, calculus, physics, biology, computer science, English, history and psychology. It operates a performing arts center that has a seating capacity up to 650 people. The school s facility features a gymnasium, cafeteria, classroom buildings, and computer and science laboratories. Its athletic complex includes a field house, track and tennis courts. The Mount de Sales Academy organizes football, soccer, softball, baseball, cross-country, swimming, wrestling and basketball activities. It supports activities, such as band, choir, music and art. The school also conducts classes in Spanish, Latin and French. It is accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Secondary Schools and the Southern Association of Independent Schools. The Mount de Sales Academy is a member of the National Catholic Education Association.
