The Fresno County Sheriff's Department has various bureaus that include the administrative services, court services, civil and custody support bureau, detective bureau, detention bureau, operations support services and patrol bureau. The department s air support unit provides air support to ground based units of the Fresno County Sheriff's Department engaged in all facets of law enforcement activities serving the citizens of Fresno County, Calif. The Air support unit also provides air support to other law enforcement agencies in the scope of mutual aid during life threatening and emergency situations. The department s homicide unit is responsible for the investigation of all homicides and violent crimes against persons, including kidnapping, stalking, assaults with deadly weapons, terrorist threats, weapons violations, jail escapes, jail deaths, jail assaults and missing persons.
