This family-run business offers numerous scuba packages combining the tangible (gear, equipment) and nontangible (lessons, diving certification). Rates run from about $550 up to $1,950.
The written portion is administered in the small classroom at the back of the store. Swimmers then learn basic techniques in a seven-foot-deep private pool until they are ready to transition to the open waters. (One must achieve five open water dives to complete certification.) Classes are fairly small, with six to eight students per lesson, allowing personalized, hands-on instruction.
Owner Ed is also an avid hunter, hence the "Woods" in "Woods & Water." The shop also sells tents, guns, and equipment and gear for camping and hunting.
