History
Wellington Ballet Theatre was conceived through a desire to promote the performance arts with an emphasis on ballet. The founders, driven by a desire to provide quality programming and performance opportunities for the aspiring dancers in our communities, launched the WBT as a not for profit organization so that the company would be embraced and guided by the sucessful artists who have paved the way before them. WBT maintains strong leadership through its Board of Directors, Artistic Directors and choreographers. We implement intensive company programming, enabling our dancers to achieve a high level of technical skill and artistic interpretation. We strive to provide dancers, from diverse backgrounds, with the necessary broad skills and knowledge to develop as versatile dancers, so that they are better able to meet the demands of the changing environment of professional dance today.
