The UCF Office of Research and Commercialization I-Corps in Orlando, FL offers a real-world, hands-on training program for aspiring entrepreneurs, students, and faculty. Led by industry experts, the program provides participants with the tools and knowledge to propel their ideas forward and make their research more marketable. Through a five-week bootcamp, teams of researchers and entrepreneurs learn, evaluate, and transfer knowledge into marketable products that have a benefit or impact on society. UCF is partnering with other universities and research centers in Florida to expand the I-Corps program and establish Central Florida as a leader in the Lean Startup Movement.
Supported by a National Science Foundation grant, the UCF I-Corps program aims to move groundbreaking technologies discovered by UCF researchers and faculty into the marketplace. As one of the 86 universities nationwide leading an I-Corps Site, UCF offers aspiring entrepreneurs the opportunity to streamline their success by understanding how their ideas can connect with society. The program provides practical hypothesis testing, real-life scenarios, and 15-20 hours per week dedicated to transforming ideas into innovative products. With the guidance and mentorship of industry experts, participants gain a greater understanding of their technology and its potential impact on society.
