The Wastewater Department works under the government of Tampa, Fla., and offers wastewater services to customers, as well as protects public health and the environment. Its personnel collect, treat, and dispose more than 50 million gallons of wastewater per day from over 98,000 customers of the city and its immediate suburbs. The department provides sanitary treatment that requires the removal of pollutants and pathogens from wastewater and follows federal, state and local regulations. The Wastewater Department operates an engineering division that is responsible for design engineering, drafting, information systems, contract administration and planning support to the department. It additionally maintains an administration division that assists the department with financial, customer service and management support. The department offers information regarding sanitary sewage, blocked drain prevention and sanitary backup problems.
