The Tallahassee Democrat newspaper provides news and information to residents of Tallahassee, Fla., and surrounding area. The newspaper is circulated in sixteen counties in Florida: Leon, Gadsden, Wakulla, Jefferson, Liberty, Taylor, Madison, Franklin, Gulf, Calhoun, Jackson, Washington and Holmes; and parts of three Georgia counties: Decatur, Grady and Thomas. It has a readership of more than 104,000 daily and 123,000 on Sunday. Its circulation is more than 50,000 daily and 66,000 on Sunday. The newspaper averages 52 pages daily and 96 pages in its Sunday edition. Since 2000, members of the Tallahassee Democrat staff have won more than 40 national, regional and state journalism, design, photography/graphics and sports coverage awards, including Florida Society of Newspaper Editors' awards for Breaking News, Explanatory Journalism, Investigative Reporting and Sports Photography. The Tallahassee Democrat was founded on March 3, 1905 and joined Knight Newspapers in 1965.
