The Lake County Circuit Civil Court is the jurisdiction for civil matters where the amount of damages sought is in excess of $15,000. Examples of the types of lawsuits filed are real property and mortgage foreclosures, professional malpractice, products liability, auto negligence, other negligence, contract and indebtedness, condominium and eminent domain. The circuit civil court also processes circuit court level appeals and prepares appeals for the district court of appeal. The department also has the jurisdiction for dissolutions of marriage, annulments, name changes, adoptions, domestic violence and repeat violence injunctions, separate maintenance, paternity, child custody, and child and spousal support matters.
