The Resurrection House, located one block west of Orange Avenue near 5th Street, is a day center for the homeless. A dedicated group of 160 volunteers is what makes this center work. No government funds are accepted or asked for; it thrives solely on donations from individuals, corporations and foundations. New clients go through an intake process to help track and identify needs of homeless children, women, and men. It provides meals, clean clothes, showers, razors and soap. Three days a week, Resurrection House provides a doctor and nurse; an attorney on Tuesday mornings; and a veterans counselor on Tuesday mornings. It helps the homeless find housing, jobs, transportation, and spiritual guidance. First United Methodist Church members provide a bag lunch at noon on Saturdays and Sundays. Please help by volunteering or with a cash donation.
