Since that time it has been an active part of life of the congregation and has played a special role in the development of early childhood education in the community. In 1978 the congregation established a Lutheran parochial school as an outreach to the community. In September 1979, Redeemer Lutheran School opened the doors of its new school building to children in pre-kindergarten, kindergarten, and grades 1-3. Grades 4-8 were added in subsequent years, and the first 8th grade class was graduated in 1983. In 2001, the two-year-old Class was added.
