Red Lobster owns and operates more than 700 casual-atmosphere Red Lobster restaurants in the United States and Canada. The restaurant chain's menu primarily consists of seafood items, including lobster, crab legs, shrimp, clam chowder, beer battered fish, clam strips, salmon and scallops. It also offers steaks, chicken, catfish, seafood pasta dishes, appetizers, desserts, kids selections and a variety of beverages and alcoholic drinks. The first Red Lobster Restaurant was opened in 1968 in Lakeland, Fla. Red Lobster, which maintains corporate headquarters in Orlando, Fla., is a subsidiary of Darden Restaurants, one of the world's largest casual dining restaurant companies. Darden also operates the Olive Garden, Bahama Breeze, Smokey Bones Barbeque & Grill and Seasons 52 national restaurant chains. Darden Restaurants trades publicly on the NYSE under the ticker symbol DRI.
