Portamento of Hope Cafe provides shelter, food and resources to the homeless population of Brandon, and seeks to implement social change for the better throughout the Brandon community. In fact, "portamento" is a musical term meaning a transition, and those at Portamento strive to help others transition into a better life. Portamento encompasses a cafe-style soup kitchen offering free meals for those in need along with to-go meals, as well as a thrift store offering clothing and household goods and a fresh produce market, all proceeds of which go to homeless services. Portamento of Hope is volunteer-run, and always accepts donations and volunteers.
