Polk County Natural Resources Division develops and implements natural resource management programs. Its programs include invasive plant management, environmental lands preservation, mosquito control, water resources examination and drainage maintenance. The division s invasive plant management program prevents the spread of plants and shrubs in public lakes, waterways, primary drainage canals and environmental lands. The division acquires and manages environmentally sensitive lands and works on stormwater and lake improvement projects. The division performs ground and surface water pollution investigations and tracks air quality issues. It also maintains a certified water testing laboratory to examine water quality. The division also investigates, restores and manages water drainage systems. Its office is located in Bartow, Fla.
