The Ocala Public Works Department is staffed by more than 140 employees who provide a wide range of routine and specialized public health, safety and infrastructure services. The department provides street sweeping, road repair, sidewalk and curb repair, drainage retention area mowing, mosquito and aquatic control, electrical and air conditioning repair to government offices, residential garbage and yard trash collection, commercial garbage collection, recycle center drop-off collection and animal control services. The Ocala Public Works Department requires approximately $14 million annually to operate and is funded through a combination of general fund and utility fund sources.
