Oak Grove Elementary School is located on the site of the former Oak Grove Middle School. After remodeling and construction in 2001, it was renamed and established as Oak Grove Elementary School. The school colors are hunter green and beige, and the mascot is the jaguar. Oak Grove serves a multi-ethnic population from a mostly low-income community. Economically disadvantaged students account for 92 percent of the student population. Approximately 70 percent are Hispanic, 11 percent are black and 14 percent are white. In addition, 17 percent are classified students with disabilities and 42 percent are classified as English Language Learners. The school is a part of the Teacher Incentive Fund , which provides additional compensation for teachers and administrators at high-need schools who are deemed effective.
