Subhasis Misra, MD, MS, FACS is a board-certified surgeon specializing in surgical oncology who brings with him significant expertise in providing comprehensive cancer care. Dr. Misra performs the full breadth of cancer surgery, including advanced surgery for cancers of the liver, pancreas, esophagus, stomach, small intestine, colon and rectum, hyperthermic intraperitoneal chemotherapy, and robotic procedures. Additionally, he performs complex surgical procedures to treat sarcoma, melanoma, endocrine tumors, and breast cancer surgeries, including those involving oncoplastic reconstruction and nipple-sparing mastectomies. Dr. Misra has a tremendous passion for education and research, which has resulted in multiple faculty awards and grants. He joined Brandon Regional Hospital from Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center in Amarillo, where he was an Associate Professor in the Division of Surgical Oncology and Chief of Gastrointestinal/Hepato-Pancreatico-Biliary surgery. Here he is focused on taking care of cancer patients and is also the Program Director of the General Surgery Residency program where he leads the training of the next generation of surgeons. Dr. Misra earned his medical degree in India. He completed a general surgery internship at Rush University Medical Center in Chicago and a general surgery residency at Fairview Hospital Cleveland Clinic Health System in Cleveland, where he served as the Chief Resident. Dr. Misra then completed a surgical oncology fellowship at the University of Miami, Jackson Memorial Hospital in Miami. He additionally holds a Master's Degree in Health Systems Management from Rush University in Chicago. He is board certified by the American Board of Surgery and is a Fellow of the American College of Certified Wound Specialists. He has been published extensively in peer-reviewed journals and has presented at numerous clinical conferences. He enjoys a busy life with his wife and their two daughters. During his spare time, Dr. Misra enjoys reading, sports, and has a passion for quality improvement, leadership, and understanding human behavior. He is also a big patient advocate and is actively involved in many community initiatives to prevent cancer and to improve care for cancer patients.
