Established in 1956, the Fire-Rescue Department of the city of Miramar offers disaster management and capital improvement planning services. Located in Miramar, Fla., the department employs more than 150 people who serve over 110,000 individuals annually. It provides general administration, fire prevention, logistics and communications solutions. The Fire-Rescue Department offers fire suppression, emergency medical, protection training and dive rescue services. The department provides services through an integrated system of firefighters and administrative team members. It offers preventive health care programs that include protocols using paralytic drug therapy to manage complex airways. In addition, The Fire-Rescue Department provides assistance for various emergency situations, including structural fires, hazardous materials incidents, underwater rescues and animal rescues.
