We are Paw and Elizabeth Mikkelsen, the owners of Mikkelsen's Pastry Shop. We started our business in 2000 after being involved in the hospitality industry for over 20 years. Paw grew up in Denmark where his parents owned and operated a pastry shop. Paw did his pastry training in Denmark and then relocated to America. Paw has been an Executive Pastry Chef for the Ritz Carlton in Boston, The Four Seasons in Houston, and the Ameristar Casino in Mississippi. Elizabeth is a graduate of Cornell University's School of Hotel Administration. Elizabeth also worked for the Ritz Carlton in Boston, was on the opening team for the Ritz Carlton in Naples and worked at The Four Seasons in Boston. Elizabeth held various management positions in the front of the house food and beverage departments. We have a talented staff with backgrounds that include experience with The Four Seasons, Ritz Carlton, and Marriot Hotels in various pastry positions. We custom make all of our cakes from scratch. The appearance, flavors, and number of layers are all decisions you will need to make. We have an album of cakes we have made in the past for your review, or you can get a glimpse online here. You are also welcome to browse through magazines looking for ideas and pictures of the cake style you would like. If you have found a cake you like, please bring the picture with you for your cake appointment to discuss it. We will do our very best to duplicate the picture and we will discuss with you how close we can get to it. We are more than willing to work with you in any way to make your event one to remember. When you call for an appointment, let us check your wedding date so we can ensure we have an opening for your date before you come in to the shop.
