The Miami-Dade Police Department is the largest law enforcement agency in the Southeastern United States serving an ethnically and racially diverse community. The department provides both traditional and municipal police and sheriff services to Miami-Dade County, Fla. and contractual municipal areas. The department provides contractual police services to four municipalities within Miami-Dade County, and maintains Mutual Aid Agreements with all the municipalities within Miami-Dade County and surrounding counties. The department s divisions include police services, support services, investigative services, professional compliance bureau, media relations bureau, police legal bureau and the special services division. The Miami-Dade County Police Department employs approximately 3,000 sworn officers and more than 1,500 civilian employees.
