Mariana De Michele, M.D., is a board-certified primary care physician at Baptist Health. Dr. De Michele specializes in women’s health, weight management and preventive medicine, including diabetes prevention. She is fluent in Spanish, English and Italian.Dr. De Michele is also a clinical faculty at Baptist Health for the upcoming internal medicine residency program.Prior to joining Baptist Health in 2022, Dr. De Michele worked as a clinical assistant professor of internal medicine for Michigan Medicine, the academic medical center of the University of Michigan. She was also a clinical assistant professor at Cleveland Clinic Lerner College of Medicine and the director of Cleveland Clinic’s public walk-in clinic.Dr. De Michele’s research includes diabetes prevention, pre-diabetes, physician education and the improvement of healthcare access. Her work is published in the Journal of General Internal Medicine and the Journal of Medical Internet Research. She is also a member of the American College of PhysiciansDr. De Michele received several awards from the University of Michigan and Cleveland Clinic Foundation, including the Caring with Excellence Award and the Steven E. Gradwohl Excellence in Continuity General Medicine Teaching Award, which she won twice. She also received three times the Making a Difference Award, a recognition given by patients.Dr. De Michele believes in building long-term relationships with patients, serving each with time, dedication and commitment. Seeing herself as the quarterback of patients’ medical care, she treats patients like family using compassionate evidence-based care and holistic treatments. When she is not treating patients or instructing new doctors, Dr. De Michele enjoys running, gardening, traveling and spending time with family.
