Libreri Mapou started in the 90s' to serve the Haitian Community. We open in the Caribbean Marketplace on April 7th 1990. Then after the Marketplace was closed we moved to the building next door ( 5919 NE 2nd Av. . Year 2010, we are celebrating our 20th. anniversary. We are a meeting point for most Haitians, a place for tourists, Haitians and non Haitians as well. Famous Haitians leaders and intellects visited the bookstore or introduced their books to the public. Sunday July 4th. Mrs. Ertha Pascal Trouillot, former President of Haiti was at the store to present her latest book : Encyclopedie biographique d'Haiti. Minister of Culture Marie Laurence Lassegue was also there in June. Libreri Mapou is the first cultural Center in Little Haiti, teaching Creole, music, Dance and theater to the Haitians.
