The Lee County Natural Resources department is managed and operated by the Lee County Government Southwest Florida. Located in Fort Myers, Fla., the department is responsible for the management and conservation of the county's natural resources. Its operations include well permitting, water conservation, water quality monitoring, storm water master planning, pollution prevention and hazardous waste management, among others. Some of its programs include the National Pollution Discharge Elimination System program, hydrological monitoring and storage tanks program. Additionally, the department's marine services include beach management, navigation aids, derelict vessel removal, artificial reefs and waterway management, among others.
