The Division of Law Enforcement is one of the bureaus within the field operations segment of the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission. It offers services related to wildlife conservation and saltwater and freshwater fish resources. Division of Law Enforcement provides protection and enforces laws related to various wild animals and aquatic resources, including threatened and endangered wildlife and fish, furbearers and marine mammals. It offers enforcement services and safeguards more than 650 wildlife species, over 200 freshwater fish species and nearly 500 saltwater acquatic species. The division's officers patrol more than 35 million acres of public and private land, over 8,000 miles of tidal coastline and nearly 12,000 miles of rivers and streams. It is also responsible for more than 3 million acres of lakes and ponds and over 10,000 miles of canals. The Division of Law Enforcement maintains an office in Marathon, Fla.
