Khayla N. Merker is a critical care physician assistant with experience working in a variety of capacities to deliver comprehensive care across an array of ICU settings. She earned her Master of Physician Assistant Studies, Master of Science in Health Education with a minor in Public Health and Bachelor of Science in Health Education from the University of Florida in Gainesville, Fla. Before joining Tampa General Hospital, Merker served at Suncoast Chest Physicians as a nocturnist on the Critical Care Medicine team. She collaborated with attending physicians, critical care fellows and others in the Cardiothoracic Surgical ICU and COVID ICU, covering up to 20 beds. Merker also worked as a Surgical Critical Care Physician Assistant at University of Florida Health Shands Hospital in Gainesville, Fla. As part of her duties, Merker rotated between four, 24-bed inpatient ICU facilities.
