History
My business started as a home based personal trainer, where I drove throughout the area working with older adults. Over time, I realized how limited that was with regards to what/how I worked with my clients. I opened a facility 5 years ago, and moved into my current location 1.5 years ago. I continue to work with older adults on balance, fall prevention and fall recovery techniques. I primary focus is working with clients of special needs (older adults, overweight, diabetic, heart conditions, etc...).

The protocol and philosophies of Fortify Your Frame (FYF) is to make exercise safe for anyone concerned about their back; young or old. Muscle imbalances that lead to chronic back pain start in the young (heavy backpacks, one sided sports, repetitive over use, poor posture, pregnancy, poor body mechanics, etc...). Intervening against such imbalances is key to a healthy spine - for your lifetime! In additional to healthy spines, FYF also works on balance/fall prevention and fall recovery with older adults. Shari Kalkstein, owner and director, is a Licensed Physical Therapist Assistant and degreed in Exercise. Shari holds certifications from several reputable fitness agencies (ACSM, NSCA, ACE) to offer the client the most effective method of exercise to meet their individual needs. Of course, decreasing chronic pain and improving overall function is the ultimate goal. Shari is also a Functional Aging Specialist and Certified in Ageless Grace.
