Founded in 1926, Baptist Home for Children was operated under the direction and financial support of several Baptist associations, including Black Creek, Northeast Florida and Jacksonville before merging with Florida Baptist Children's Homes in 1999. It is a nonprofit organization that serves more than 30 children. The organization offers residential and foster care, adoption, continuing education, transition to independent living, maternity care counseling and referral services. Baptist Home for Children features several residential care cottages that include a carpenter shop, barn, gymnasium, swimming pool and maintenance building. Maintaining a location Jacksonville, Fla., it is a part of Florida Baptist Children's Homes, which is a faith-based, nonprofit organization that provides homes for boys and girls who have been neglected, misdirected, abandoned and abused. Florida Baptist Children's Homes is accredited by the Council on Accreditation of Services for Families and Children.
