Founded in 1959, the Englewood Water District is a political subdivision of the state of Florida. The district encompasses more than 40 square miles in southern Sarasota and western Charlotte counties in Florida. It delivers water that meets the primary and secondary drinking water standards by the Environmental Protection Agency and state of Florida. The Englewood Water District is governed by a board of five elected supervisors. It is responsible for providing and operating water, wastewater and reclaimed water systems. The district operates a reverse osmosis and softening water treatment plants to obtain blended water. It also has a reclamation facility with a daily capacity of 3 million gallons. The district monitors contaminants in drinking water according to the state and federal laws. The Englewood Water District is located in Englewood, Fla.
