Part of the Pinellas County Schools system, Dunedin Highland Middle School boasts a large student population and a full-time Center for Gifted Studies. Students have been recognized in contests for their knowledge of history, have had their work featured on the Pinellas County Schools website and have sung at Carnegie Hall. The Center for Gifted Studies offers core courses in mathematics, English, science and social studies. The Center was expanded to include the sixth and seventh grades in 2010.
