The Florida Department of Corrections is one of the largest state prison systems in the United States with a budget of more than $2 billion. The department includes more than 60 prisons, over 40 work and forestry camps and nearly 30 work release centers. It also operates several road prisons and a treatment center. The Florida Department of Corrections employs more than 27,000 individuals. The department provides care and supervision, as well as provides a variety of academic, vocational and substance abuse programs to inmates and offenders. It offers programs in adult basic education and mandatory literacy, printing and graphics, carpentry and digital design. The Florida Department of Corrections has a facility in Largo, Fla.
