The Public Works Department for the City of Temple Terrace comprises several divisions, including sanitation, sewer, water and streets.
The sanitation division provides curbside garbage collection twice a week and green bin recycling collection once a week. Every Wednesday, it collects yard waste throughout the entire city for recycling. The division also provides a free once-a-year special pickup for households.
The water division is responsible for the operation and maintenance of 113.5 miles of water mains that distribute water to more than 29,000 people throughout its water service area. The division is also responsible for the maintenance and installation of all water meters within its service area.
The sewer division is responsible for the operation and maintenance of the sewer mains that transmit all wastewater to 31 city-owned and operated lift stations, which transmit watewater to the City of Tampa Regional Wastewater Plant. About 812 million gallons of wastewater are transmitted every year.
The streets division is responsible for maintenance and repairs to the city's streets, rights-of-way, stormwater systems and city-owned paved areas.
