Founded in 1902, Children's Home Society offers community-based solutions to meet the needs of more than 100,000 children and families. It provides counseling, family preservation, child abuse prevention and intervention, and adoption and foster care services. The society also offers medical care, transportation and housing services for pregnant teens. It additionally operates emergency shelters and group homes. Children's Home Society helps families to resolve single parenthood, substance abuse and family discord issues. Its shelters provide food pantries, clothes, and health and personal hygiene products to homeless youths. The society s Joshua House is spread across an area of more than 10 acres. Its Hacienda Girls Ranch provides a safe haven for girls of ages 10 to 17. Children's Home Society is certified by the National Council on Accreditation and is a founding member of the Child Welfare League of America.
