ArtCenter Manatee has been the home for local and national artists and their work since 1955 at its current location across from the South Florida Museum, although the organization traces its roots as the county's cultural center back to 1937. It hosts exhibitions throughout the year which display the work of emerging and nationally renowned artists, as well as the creations of ArtCenter Manatee members who attend the various classes and workshops it offers.
The center's exhibitions are generally free to the public during business hours, although it does occasionally host special engagements, events and presentations. Visitors can also purchase works on display in the Artists' Market, which features affordable pieces created by local artists.
ArtCenter Manatee relies on private funding, grants, and most importantly fees paid by members, who for reasonable prices will receive discounts on class and workshop enrollment and exhibition entries and access to studio space. The center also presents an annual Kids Art Exhibition that draws great crowds and proudly exhibits children's creations. Visit its website for more information on the exhibit schedule, class registration and more.
