HistoryJax Federal Credit Union was originally founded as a cooperative to serve Federal Employees and their families in 1935. Workers, who wanted to earn a return on their savings, deposited those funds into the credit union. The credit union managed the money and made loans to fellow workers who needed to borrow. We remain a cooperative, and the money you save with the credit union is insured through the NCUA to at least $250,000. Fortunately, you no longer have to work for the Federal Government to be a member; you can join Jax Federal Credit Union if you live, learn, work, or worship in our five-county area in Northeast Florida (Duval, Clay, Nassau, Baker and St. Johns Counties).
