The Healthcare Council of the National Capital Area is a nonprofit organization that maintains hospitals and allied health care facilities located in Maryland, Virginia and Washington, D.C. It maintains National Capital Area Shared Services, which is a wholly owned subsidiary that develops and promotes various programs and services that help to improve the economic condition of its organizations. The council promotes intelligent planning, facilitates discussion of common problems and acts as a clearinghouse for the exchange of information. The Healthcare Council of the National Capital Area operates administration, engineering, human resources, environmental services, information technology, materials management and quality assurance divisions. It serves over 3500 customers and coordinates activities with national, local, regional and state associations. The council is located in Landover, Md.
