Woman's National Democratic Club was founded in 1922, as an organization for Democratic women in Washington, D.C. Men were granted full voting membership in 1988. The club provides a meeting place for Democrats and engages members in public affairs and advocates the role of women in the political process. It also actively supports Democratic candidates for public office. The club operates a nonprofit educational foundation that sponsors selected programs, including scholarly collections, oral history and publication program, and conducts community outreach projects. The foundation also supports the club's historic preservation, scholarship of women's history and community outreach with state public schools. Woman's National Democratic Club provides its venue for private parties, weddings and special events. Its rooms are also available for conferences and meetings. The club s museum houses a collection of antiques and political memorabilia, and is open to the public through scheduled tours.
