Established in 1802, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, also known as USACE, is a federal agency that employs more than 34,000 civilians and soldiers. The agency is one of the leading providers of outdoor recreational services in the United States. It delivers engineering solutions for customers in over 90 countries worldwide. The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers owns and operates nearly 600 dams, as well as maintains approximately 12,000 miles of commercial inland navigation channels. The agency offers real estate and environmental management products and services for the U.S. Army, the U.S. Air Force and other government agencies.
