RGIT represents the interests of German industry vis- -vis the U.S. administration and maintains close ties to the international organizations located in Washington, D.C., in particular the Word Bank and the International Monetary Fund ( IMF ). RGIT reports regularly to BDI and DIHK and their associated companies on U.S. legislation and regulatory activities as well as on key developments concerning U.S. economic and trade policies. RGIT conveys to the partners of German business in Washington, D.C., information regarding German economic and trade relations with the United States, the positions of the German business community concerning topical trade and economic issues as well as sector-specific and regional developments relevant to both countries. RGIT offers information regarding U.S. legislative and regulatory activities that are relevant to the business community. For inquiries about business contacts, RGIT acts as a helpful guide and cooperates closely with the German American Chambers of Commerce. The office was established in 1988. It is supported by the Federal Ministry of Economics and Technology within its foreign trade promotion programs.
