Founded in 1920, Disabled American Veterans is a non-profit charity that caters to wartime-disabled veterans. Annually, the organization represents more than 200,000 veterans and families. It gets claims for benefits from the Department of Veterans Affairs and Department of Defense. The organization has over 88 offices throughout the United States and Puerto Rico. Veterans of Foreign Wars

Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 3103 is an organization of local ex-service members and charitable military groups like the Disabled American Veterans and the Young Marines. In addition, Post 3103 also rents out two meeting halls. The main hall has a kitchen and a capacity of 125, while the upstairs hall can hold 83. These meeting halls have become an important location for a variety of nonmilitary charities, support groups and churches. Five different Alcoholics Anonymous groups regularly meet here, and there is a driving school. It's conveniently located off Route 1 on Princess Anne Street and is also close to Old Mill Park.

Veterans of Foreign Wars

McLean's VFW post was founded in 1964 by World War II veterans. The post members now range from World War II veterans to newly returned veterans from Iraq and Afghanistan. Only servicemen and women who served in a combat zone are eligible for membership in the VFW. But the VFW welcomes as auxiliary members the children, spouses and close relatives of combat veterans. The post is known for its monthly crab dinners during the summer and its Memorial Day and Veterans Day observances. The canteen has no liquor license so it serves beer, home-cooked food and conversation.
