Established in 1883, West End Neighborhood House is a nonprofit community development organization that serves struggling immigrant families in Delaware. The organization offers employment, recreational, and afternoon and evening health education programs to prevent school drop-outs, smoking, teenage pregnancy, and drug and alcohol abuse among high-risk urban youth. Its tutoring program provides academic services to students in grades 1 through 12 from low- and moderate-income families. West End Neighborhood House offers individualized tutoring, homework assistance and computerized instruction services. It provides budgeting, employment, job training and child care services. The organization partners with the Delaware Department of Education, Female Benevolent Society and Wilmington Flower Market.
