HistoryFounded in 1915 as The Print Club, it was one of the first venues in the country dedicated to the appreciation of prints. It moved into its historic 19th Century carriage house in 1917. Today it represents print in all its forms, including printmaking and photography In 1942, The Print Center donated its collection of prints to the Philadelphia Museum of Art forming the core of their fledgling print department. We continue to add to the collection through purchase prizes and publications, and have donated 2,000 works of art. In 1996, The Print Club changed its name to The Print Center to mark its commitment to serve the field and the community.SpecialtiesThe Print Center programs include Exhibitions; The Print Center Series: Lectures, artists talks, panels and book events; Artists-in-Schools Program; and The Print Center Gallery Store: representing about 100 artists from all over the world with an exceptional selection of contemporary prints, photographs and books for purchase at The Print Center and online.
